The following individuals are nominated and verified candidates and will appear on the ballot for the positions indicated:
SECRETARY:
Keena Baker was an Assistant Basketball Coach at Herig Elementary. She has been a cheerleading coach for 3 years. She led a brownie troop in 2007. Keena volunteers with United Way every year to help do taxes. She is the President for the Heritage Square Neighborhood Watch and the Saginaw West Amalgamated Team (S.W.A.T. 989), Inc..
Keena has experienced her own problems with the community as she fell victim to a hit and run SUV back in March of 2011. With her strong spirit she has moved forward and even still being in a wheelchair nothing slows her down. She is determined to give back to her community and help those around her.
She is President of OWLS at Kaplan University. She is an honor student earning recognition on the Dean’s List 4 times and the President’s list 3 times. Keena has been listed in many articles and had many stories published on her hard work with her college and college clubs she currently is involved in at Kaplan University. Keena is also the current Membership Officer for the ANTSHE. She is a member of the Phi Beta/FBLA and the Psi Chi: International Honors Society in Psychology.
She is currently a psychology major scheduled to graduate in Spring of 2012 with a Bachelors of Science. She will continue with her education to acquire a Master's Degree in Law; where she is aspiring to become a politician hoping to further her community service and desire to help those in need.
Dr. Viar is a graduate of Capella University and earned his Ph.D. in Post-Secondary Adult Education and Training. He is a Certified Postsecondary Instructor and currently, he is completing coursework towards a second PhD in Organization and Management. He is a Maryland native, achieved the Sigma Beta Delta Business Honors and graduated from Frostburg State University. He holds an MBA in Marketing. He is a full-time instructor and teaches Business, Education, Management and Marketing courses. Dr. Viar is an innovative teacher and author with a passion and devotion to education and learning
