"The Fight for Academic Equity: Creating Social Cohesiveness Between the Adult Learner and College"

At ANTSHE, we believe that education isn't just for K-12 or the college-bound. As life-long learners, it is important to continue to be open-minded and willing to learn new things. 

This year, we are very excited to offer to our ANTSHE Conference attendees the following unique learning opportunities, FREE with a full-conference registration! 

***PLEASE NOTE***In order to secure your seat in the class, you MUST register in advance. There is no registration fee and you will not be charged or billed for your selected class. The cost is included in your full-conference registration fee. (You will not be able to register for the class onsite)

Chocolate/Tea Pairing Class: 

Join us for a special tasting/pairing. Learn about the history of chocolate and how various products are made, as well as how to "taste" chocolate (just like with wine). Learn about tea and how to pair it with chocolate for a true indulgence. Sample different types of tea and chocolate at this event.  Whether you are looking for a way to expand your knowledge about tea and chocolate or are looking for some party ideas yourself, this class is sure to provide you with some great tips and advice on how you can make your next tea party a success! Ladies, it's time for tea! Gentlemen, how impressed would your significant other be, and imagine how special he/she would feel with their own private tutorial introducing the world of tea and chocolate?!


Communications And Real-world Digital Solutions (CARDS) Class:

DESCRIPTION
Have you ever wanted to learn how to communicate better with your students, colleagues, family, and/or friends using different forms of digital communication (i.e., texting, Skype, Twitter, etc.)? Participants will learn how to use various methods of social media to build their own professional portfolio with on-the-spot training and building sessions.  Join us for some CARDS?
Training Stations: Text messaging, Facetime/Skype other real-time solutions, Blogs, Instragram/Pinterest, Twitter, Facebook, Cyber Security, etc.

Goal: To provide instruction on various digital communications. Whether you have no experience, are moderately experienced, or have an advanced understanding of technology and social media, you will learn something from this training. Attendees will learn ways to improve their communication skills, learn to communicate digitally with friends, family, students and co-workers, and how to ensure that you are effectively safeguarding against theft, or damage to hardware, software or information with expert cyber-security advice. Catch up with old friends, keep in touch with family members face-to-face in real-time, talk to loved ones in the military, get involved with programs and causes that you are passionate about, or take advantage of this opportunity to build on your current skills and expand your professional resume. Learn how to use digital communications to provide practical interactive classroom solutions and to provide another method to bridge the gap between student-faculty, administrators- faculty, and faculty-faculty.

Attendees should bring their smartphone, tablet, and/or laptop.

This class is great for any individual wanting to improve skills or learn new skills to be able to communicate more effectively in a digital world!

At the ANTSHE Dinner & Painting Party, you will have the exciting opportunity to try your hand at painting, after you enjoy a complimentary dinner. Eat. Paint. Enjoy! Painting parties are all the rage, and we will be hosting a painting party just for you! All skill levels are welcome and NO experience is required. Don't know how to paint? Have no fear, your painting instructor will guide you step-by-step through the process of painting your very own cherished keepsake, something to remember your visit to North Carolina and the ANTSHE Conference by. Enjoy a relaxing dinner, then immerse yourself into art to create a beautiful painting of the "Flowering Magnolia." 

-No experience necessary

-No supplies needed, ANTSHE will provide everything you need, including: brushes, paints, a canvas, and easel will be waiting at your table. (Aprons will be provided, but there are no guarantees so consider packing an old t-shirt)

So, step out of the high-tech world we live in and immerse yourself in the art! It's fun, therapeutic, and you'll be surprised at the hidden or not-so-hidden talent that you really have! Enjoy dinner, painting, and have some great fun! Dinner will be provided for all registered participants of the Dinner & Painting Party at no cost. But, don't forget to register for the class in advance because seating is limited and you will not be able to register onsite.
