Ericka M. Miller, Senior Advisor to the Secretary

U.S. Department of Education

Keynote Speaker 

Nominated by President Barack Obama on November 7, 2013, to become Assistant Secretary for      Postsecondary Education, Ericka Miller is currently senior advisor to the Secretary at the U.S. Department of Education, where she advises on higher education policy and programmatic issues. Prior to joining the Department, Miller was vice president for operations and strategic leadership at The Education Trust, a nationally recognized research and advocacy organization that promotes high academic achievement for all students at all levels and is particularly focused on closing the opportunity and achievement gaps that separate low-income students and students of color from their peers. Miller holds a bachelor’s degree in English literature from Georgetown University, as well as master’s and doctoral degrees in English and American literature from Stanford University.

18th Annual ANTSHE Conference Entertainment and Events Update

Register for the 18th Annual ANTSHE Conference today! 


In addition to the many opportunities to learn and network with others in academia, we hope that you will enjoy the entertainment and events scheduled around conference hours just for you!  This year's ANTSHE Conference is a great time to get to know other professionals and leaders in academia, and nontraditional students while enjoying some of what Loudoun County has to offer.

In addition to these events, we will also have:

So bring some extra cash along. Not only will you be getting some great items, you will be helping to support a great cause and nontraditional student learners! Proceeds will benefit the ANTSHE Scholarship Fund.

ANTSHE Exclusive Classic Rock Concert Event - Live!

Artist Bio: 

Formed in late spring 2013 the Earls of Kent have created a talented, high energy musical group bent on bringing great classic rock to audiences everywhere. This tightly-knit group of musicians are uniquely suited towards venues that cater to rock enthusiasts who enjoy the classic rock and blues of the 60's, 70's, 80's and 90's as well as the 2000's. Their goal is to consistently satisfy rock fans of all ages and tastes with a wide variety of great music and fill the seats of any venue/establishment in which they play. Their music features artists such as Queen, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Cream, Joe Walsh, Led Zeppelin, Molly Hatchett, Joe Bonamassa, Toto, Aerosmith, The Black Crowes, Stevie Ray Vaughn and many others. These down-to-earth, capable musicians are the real deal when it comes to dedication and commitment to their music and their fans. Hope to see you all out there at the next gig! Don't miss this exciting event, Saturday evening 8:00PM - 11PM!


Saturday March 28th

Relaxation Station

After a long day at the conference, treat yourself to a 15-minute seated massage. Northern Virginia Massage Therapist will be on site from 6pm-8pm on Saturday. Seated Massages are available on a first come-first serve basis. Attendees will need to sign up for a seated massage at the ANTSHE Resource Center during Registration and the Open House on Friday. The cost for a seated massage is $25. 

The Relaxation Station will also feature consultants from Jamberry Nails and Make Up. Free Samples!

Caricaturist George Edwards will be onsite  to draw caricatures for the conference. Mr. Edwards draws front view faces with the humorous large head and small body style with a hobby or sport theme. He uses a thick paper and give a plastic bag with each one. Mr. Edwards is a graduate of the Maryland Institute College of Art and has been sketching caricatures for 30 years! Stop by the Relaxation Station for this fun event!

Show Your College Spirit!

Come and show your College Spirit with a School Spirit Table at the 18th Annual ANTSHE Conference! No cost to have a table displaying how your college/university celebrates Nontraditional Students! This is your opportunity to show off your adult learner program!

Need some ideas?

  • Display a Poster Board with pictures of your nontraditional students

    •Show how you celebrated National Nontrad Week

    •How about some success stories or pictures of successful nontraditional students who have graduated and were successful as a result of your organization?

    •Encourage others to join your organization
