Job Announcement

Tacoma Community College (TCC) is pleased to invite applications for the Dean of Gig Harbor Campus & Continuing Education

Tacoma Community College's Gig Harbor campus (GHC) was built in 1995, after more than a decade of credit and non-credit offerings in the Gig Harbor area, at various locations. Situated northwest of Tacoma across the Narrows Bridge, the Gig Harbor campus offers credit and non-credit courses.  Known for providing a small, intimate learning experience, the Gig Harbor campus is ideally located for residents of the peninsula communities.  The building is a unique branch campus, not far from the main campus, and offering a wide variety of programs and services. Gig Harbor is also home of TCC's Continuing Education (CE) department, which provides non-credit professional development, lifelong learning, and personal enrichment classes for both the Gig Harbor and Tacoma communities.

The dean reports to the Provost & VP of Academic Affairs, providing vision, leadership, and overall direction for the staff at the Gig Harbor campus and Continuing Education. In the absence of the college president and/or other executive leadership, this position provides visibility and college representation to the surrounding community. The position also provides oversight for a diverse range of staff members, encompassing a wide variety of responsibilities. The dean is responsible for hiring, supervising, and evaluating GHC/CE employees; monitoring building operations; maintaining a strong credit program in collaboration with academic divisions and departments; ensuring the provision of a variety of student services in collaboration with Student Affairs deans and unit managers; overseeing a strong, innovative, and successful Continuing Education department including events and activities; and maintaining fiscal and programmatic accountability.

Tacoma Community College is a comprehensive state-supported community college serving more than 720,000 residents of the Tacoma-Pierce County area. The College's service district includes all of Tacoma and the Pierce County portion of the Olympic Peninsula and serves the Tacoma and Peninsula school districts. TCC is one of 34 community and technical colleges in a statewide system. The College has an annual operating budget of $40 million.  Located on a 150-acre site in west Tacoma, the TCC campus houses 28 buildings (.5 million sq. ft. of covered area) including a health science center, computer center, learning resource center, art gallery, gymnasium, student center, and Early Learning Center.  The Tacoma-Pierce County area, located on beautiful Puget Sound and framed by the Cascade and Olympic mountain ranges, offers residents and visitors a wealth of cultural and recreational opportunities. Tacoma is located 35 miles south of Seattle.

Become part of an exceptional team committed to improving the lives of our students and the quality of living in our community through educational and professional excellence.
