Celebrate National Nontraditional Student Week

November 4-10

Nontrad Week 2019 Recap

_________________________

November 5-9, 2019 was National Nontraditional Student Week!

National Nontraditional Student Week was for many colleges and universities across the country, a time to recognize and celebrate their nontraditional student population. The number of nontraditional students attending college on campus and online is the fastest growing demographic, according to the Department of Education, NCES. There is a growing demand for programs that focus more on this demographic, now more than ever. How a college or university chooses to provide for their nontraditional students can make the difference between a successful adult learner program or an unsuccessful program. At ANTSHE, the focus has always been on nontraditional students, after all, it's in our name! Not sure how you can celebrate nontraditional students on your campus?  List of Nontrad Week Activities

We recognize the following colleges and universities for their Nontraditional Student Week activities and sharing them with the ANTSHE community.

Alpha Sigma Lambda Honor Society, Bellevue University, SUNY Cortland, The EvoLLLution, Granite State College, Nontraditional Student Association Utah State University, College of Southern Nevada, Kennesaw University, Graduate! RI, LaGuardia Community College.

Congratulations Missouri State University!

We were honored to present the award for "Outstanding Foundation & Leadership for Nontrads" to the Adult Student Services at Missouri State University. This award was presented to Jaime Ross, Director of the adult student services, at the 2019 ANTSHE Conference this past April in Orlando.

The adult learner program at this college has proven to be successful at catering to their nontraditional students by designing programs around their nontraditional students' needs, and providing resources, and the support they need to achieve educational success. The Adult Student Services at Missouri State University assists new or returning students 22+ years old who juggle school, work and family obligations! Their support services include advisement, placement testing, registration, scholarship and financial aid opportunities.

Thank You!

For your continued support of nontraditional students and for providing a pathway for their success!

ANTSHE Supports Nontrads

At ANTSHE we are proud to support nontraditional students! We work hard to as advocates for adult learners by providing resources, scholarship opportunities, hold annual conferences to discuss trends, address issues, and provide research and support for that focuses solely on the adult learner. ANTSHE Directors and volunteers are not only advocates for nontrads, but they are/were nontraditional students themselves. They understand the challenges that adult learners face and work hard to find ways to address these challenges in order for them to succeed in reaching their educational goals. We recognize nontraditional students for their on campus work in support of other nontraditional students, and recognize administrators, faculty, and colleges for their direct role and impact on the lives of their nontraditional students on campus.

ANTSHE has been featured in U.S. News & World Report, the Hechinger Report, USA Today, and Inside Higher Ed and is recognized as a leader and subject matter expert in higher education and the nontraditional student!
