He also served as an online field associate and an applied-dissertation advisor, and four of his doctoral students received outstanding dissertation awards. He is passionate about student affairs and his current research focus is on the professoriate & shared governance, and free speech & civility on campus. He has presented at both regional and national conferences, and he has published articles on both academic affairs- and student affairs-related topics.

He is a member of the Association for the Study of Higher Education [ASHE], and the American Association of University Administrators [AAUA] (on the board of directors and is on the editorial board for the Journal of Higher Education Management). He is a current reviewer for the Journal for the Study of Postsecondary and Tertiary Education, and he is a peer reviewer/evaluator with the Middle States Commission on Higher Education (MSCHE).

Dr. Hill lives in South Florida with his wife, to whom he has been married for the last 30+ years. They have one daughter who graduated in May of 2009, Summa Cum Laude from the College of Journalism and Communications at the University of Florida. He admits to being a “news junkie” and enjoys traveling to new places and touring different college campuses. His extracurricular activities include reading bestsellers (i.e., John Grisham, Carl Hiaasen, Randy Wayne White, Scott Turow, etc.), watching local school board meetings, riding his tandem bicycle, playing golf, going to the movies, and puttering in his yard.
