Ja'Ken Caston 

Doctoral Candidate at Morgan State University

 


Ja’Ken Caston is a doctoral candidate at Morgan State University. Ja’Ken is currently a principal for correctional education in the State of Maryland. He earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in Spanish from Virginia Commonwealth University and a Master’s of Science degree in Education with a concentration in Reading from Johns Hopkins University. Additionally, Mr. Caston has studied at Southern University (Baton Rouge, LA), Coppin State University, and at El Bispo Marroquin, located in Antigua, Guatemala.

Ja’Ken has lived in Puerto Rico, Honduras, and the Dominican Republic, which has sparked a profound interest in the Caribbean and the Americas, especially the connection with the Garifuna culture and people. His research includes transitional services, workforce development and access to higher education for the formerly incarcerated.
