Dr. Carlos Wilson

Interim Director, Director of Special Academic Credit Programs, and Assistant Professor of Interdisciplinary Studies at Jackson State University


Dr. Carlos Wilson started his career at Jackson State University in 2005 in the area of non-academic credit programs in the College of Lifelong Learning now the School of Lifelong Learning. In October of 2006, Dr. Wilson was promoted to specialist for global training in business, government and industry. Dr. Wilson assisted in all logistics, scheduling, facilitation, and evaluation of non-academic credit programs to include international projects, conferences, seminars, workshops, and special meetings for the College of Lifelong Learning. He has served as logistics and budget specialist for five national and regional conferences as well as the chairperson for the 2009 Violence Intervention and Prevention Institute for K12 and Higher Education faculty, staff, and administrators. When the College of Lifelong Learning became the School of Lifelong Learning in 2013, Dr. Wilson was selected as the Assistant Director of the School. In this capacity he served as a liaison for the School of Lifelong Learning with the academic units at Jackson State University for scheduling classes and hiring faculty to teach in the school. In July of 2015, Wilson was appointed as the Interim Director of the School of Lifelong Learning which serves a student population of around 350 students and offers a Bachelor of Science in Professional Interdisciplinary Studies. He is tasked with overseeing operations of the unit including development and implementation of policies, leadership of academic and non-academic programs, human resources, unit budgets and facility operations. His research interests include delivery of instruction and student support for adult and nontraditional students.
