Dr. Gloria Smith

Director of Student Support Services, Assistant Professor at Jackson State University

 


Dr. Gloria Stamps Smith has more than sixteen years of experience dealing with nontraditional students in the School of Lifelong Learning. I have served in an administrative capacity in the school of Lifelong Learning such as assistant to the dean, director of Weekend College, and now I am the director of student support services and assistant professor of interdisciplinary studies in the College of Education and Human Development, School of Lifelong Learning at Jackson State University. As director of student support services I am responsible for the day-to-day operation of the Student Support Services Unit which includes providing direct services to adult learners and assisting them in attaining resources and skills to enter, progress, and eventually graduate from college. My research interests are: Nontraditional Students: Why Nontraditional Students Dropout Online Courses; Student Support Services and the Nontraditional Students, Mentoring the Nontraditional Students, Addressing Challenges Facing Nontraditional Students, etc.
